Discussion:
Cascadia slowing things down

I have Cascadia Menus on some of my sites and have found that doing any
updates to these sites takes a long time to publish even a single page. Does
anyone else have this problem?. I am thinking of going back to AllWebMenus
since as I understand it NOF simply uses a link to the menu and if that
hasn't changed everything should update faster. Am I right in this train of
thought?

Alex,

AllWebMenus works with Fusion using the free AWM Component that was created
for that purpose.

Just like other Fusion components, you select the component and insert a
placeholder on the page in design view.

In the component properties, you tell it where to find the menu file. You
"turn on" the component in Publish View and that's it.

The version of the component available on the BeyondFusion web site works
with Fusion 7.5 and above.

Chuck,

Will it be faster to update things than using Cascadia?

Yes, of course. You design your menus in AWM outside of Fusion.

Cascadia uses Fusion's page structure to generate menus, similar to how the
current builit-in navbar work.

Cascadia became obsolete, for all intents and purposes, once Fusion navbars
could do multi-level flyouts.

I have now removed my cascadia menus from my site and tried to clean up my
assets. I still have all my pages showing as linked with page missing
messages. When I try to remove these asset links I am told that they are in
use. I am trying to do this before I add my AWM to the pages and I do not
have any navigation at all.

I have tried several time to optimise the site but after sitting waiting for
over an hour, the optimisation just dies. and when I open the site I only
have a blank home page. I need to go back to the unoptimised site.

I need to find some way to speed up the workin of this site.
